Apprentice Recognition for Imtech Smith
25 Jun 2012
At a sparkling awards ceremony hosted by Blackpool & Fylde College, in the decadent surrounding of the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, an award for Outstanding Contribution to Apprentices has been presented to a local Firm.
Imtech Smith was honoured to have its many decades of support for local apprentices recognised by the college and Dan Docherty, HR Manager at Imtech Smith, pictured above, commented: ?Imtech Smith has a long tradition of supporting, training and developing local young people through our apprentice programme.
?This year alone we have 27 apprentices and we are proud to be able to play our part in helping to develop the wider community and the lives of these young people. We are honoured to have received this prestigious award and thank the college for its acknowledgement?.
It was a sentiment echoed by Pauline Waterhouse, Principal and Chief Executive at Blackpool & Fylde College, also pictured above: ?It is very rewarding to see such a well-established, yet forward thinking organisation like Imtech Smith, continually supporting young local people through their apprenticeship programme.
?It is something they have done not just for many years but for many decades and as a leading provider in education locally, we wanted to draw attention to their continued effort by presenting them with our Outstanding Contribution to Apprentices Award. We are delighted to play a key role with local employers in developing our students with all the right skills for employment and apprenticeship opportunities, especially with such highly regarded local companies like Imtech Smith.?
Imtech Smith has a long history of working with Blackpool & Fylde College and has on occasion provided a sounding board back to the college on what skills the students will need as the industry develops. The company, which was established back in 1958 in Blackpool by the Smith family, was recently purchased by global green technology giant Imtech UK, but will maintain operations at their head office in Kirkham.
